DIY Birthday Party Ideas
Step 1: Create Your Barbie World
Bring the magic to life with a party full of style, imagination and fun.
Choose your Barbie theme—Dreamhouse, Fashion Show, Spa Day or “Be Anything”—and build your look with soft pinks, bright whites and a touch of sparkle. Add a few Barbie dolls and accessories to your table to instantly transform your space.
Step 2: 🎂 Make a Showstopping Barbie Cake
Every Barbie party deserves a wow moment
Create a beautiful Barbie cake using a real Barbie doll as the centrepiece.
Simply place the doll into a round cake and decorate with layers of pink buttercream to create her gown. Finish with shimmer, sprinkles or edible pearls for that signature Barbie sparkle.
1. Stack 3 layers of round cake with a layer of buttercream between them. Using a cookie cutter or knife, cut out a hole through the entire cake, this is where your Barbie doll will sit!
2. Carve the cake into a rounded pyramid shape to make the skirt of Barbie's ballgown
(Tip: A chilled cake works best!)
3. Ice the cake in pink butter cream, adding swirls of icing to add details to the skirt
4. Wrap the lower half of your Barbie doll in cling wrap and place her into the centre of the cake until the cling wrap is all covered.
5. Add icing details around the top of the skirt as a finishing touch!
6. Finish with sprinkles, edible glitter or cake toppers for the perfect birthday treat.
Step 3: Spark Imagination with Play
Set up a few simple activities like styling dolls, designing outfits or playing a Barbie version of pass-the-parcel. A dedicated Barbie play area with dolls and accessories is perfect for creative storytelling and keeps the fun going.
Step 4: Sparkle, Smile & Celebrate
After cake and games, gather everyone to enjoy a Barbie episode or movie—perfect for winding down while staying in the world of Barbie. It’s a calm, feel-good way to end the celebration and leave everyone smiling.
